I am starting with a new sub-category on my blog under life inspiration which is retail therapy. This category will be mostly about my shopping adventures, shopping stuff, clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, and my most favorite purchases.
Before you read this blog post, I want to clarify that I am in no way encouraging anyone who is feeling sick or ill to go out for shopping in lockdown to feel better. Also If you are feeling fine and go out for any kind of shopping, please use face masks, gloves, and hand sanitizers at all times.
So, as I mentioned this is a new one in my blog, and it’s from a quick shopping visit to Target, Versona, and Ulta stores near my house. It’s been two weeks since shopping stores started lifting in Dallas and I was still at home going on with my schedule. It was Wednesday morning and I was feeling very low and frustrated for the past one week and needed some change. I realized I needed some retail therapy. So I decided to make a visit to ” the target” store near my house since I also needed to get some groceries and medicines.
My first store visit after the lockdown was at target. When I reached there, they had a poster outside the entrance that “if you not feeling well or have symptoms of cough and fever in the last 24 hours we can’t allow you to shop with us today.” I entered the store as I was feeling fine with no such symptoms and I picked up what I had to and went to check the clothes section. Since the fitting rooms were closed because of the COVID situation, I just picked clothes that were my size, and usually a medium or large size fits me so just had to trust my instinct.
I spent around 30 minutes of shopping at “the target store” and bought a few comfy tops, shorts, and a contour Capri for casual wear and workout.
Picked these comfortable and casual tops from the target which was on a sale. few tops were just for 8$ and 12$. I like to wear lots of grey color tops at home so I bought more of those.
Just Next to Target in that line is “Tuesday mornings” and I love this store as it always has some amazing deals on stuff. I was going here after a long break, but I knew what I wanted. I straight went to the stationary section and picked up a beautiful journal and stickers for my journal.
This took just 10 minutes from entering the store, making a decision on which journal and stickers to pick and checkout.
Picked this blue journal organizer that had “follow your dream” written on it. I just loved the color and it also comes with 200 stickers, monthly spreads, and weekly calendar format. I also loved these carpe diem stickers which were really cool and fun to add in my journal. The journal was just for 8$ and it is totally worth it.
Next to “Tuesday Mornings” is the Versona store and due to COVID they had a massive sale going on. They have an awesome sale and they are also literally selling some accessories for just a dollar. I just checked the clothes section if there is some good stuff and bought a legging and a pretty shrug. I took around 10 to 15 minutes in Versona and when I went to check out at the register I saw a beautiful badge on sale at the counter display and picked that too.
Bought this very pretty white floral shrug from versona which I absolutely love so much and this black legging with side pockets. These were not on sale so had to buy these on regular price. But I believe in picking things which I really like and would wear more often rather than buying stuff just because they are cheap and would later be lying in my closet.
Ulta store was my last stop. The employee made me stand out in a line on a two-hand distance spot as they were allowing just 5 customers inside the store. Once I went in, I went to the hair and clips sections and bought a few hair bands and headwraps for my workout. I spent around 5 minutes in the store from entry to exit.
Got these hair bands and headwraps from Ulta for my workout and this little white cute badge from versona which is so relevant to the current situation. “
I took around an hour or little more than that for my entire shopping but felt a little better after a long time. This quick speed shopping dint really feel like the usual shopping to be true but fixed my mood and made me feel fresh for some time. I could have done online shopping but always prefer to buy clothes in person or in-store as I need to know the material I will wear cause some fabrics just don’t suit me that well. So this shopping felt like self-care to me and also lifted my mood.
For something like the current situation where you can’t really take a risk of spending more time in the stores or when you need to shop in a rush, it’s important to determine what your needs and budget are. You should know what you really need to buy and focus your time looking for options only in that section. Also, if you not sure about the product size or otherwise you can always return it as most of the stores are allowing easy returns with the receipt these days.
Let me know your thoughts on whats your retail therapy in this lockdown and also what has been your favorite lockdown purchase?
